Fishing is such a great sport for a number of reasons. You can
fish almost anyplace there is water. Oceans, lakes, streams or ponds.
If there is clean water somehow fish will find it.
Also you can began fishing without spending much money. Cut a
solid willow branch or length of bamboo. Tie a piece of string and
add a hook and a bobber and you are a fisherman.
Of course most beginners will want something more sophistacated
in their tackle boxes. Even so a good substantial rod and reel and a
few lures will not break even the tightest budget.
The trick is to decided what kind of fishing you would enjoy. Maybe
even more important would be to decided whether you actually
will enjoy the sport before you began investing in equipment.
It should not be difficult to find someone who is experienced that
would take you along on a fishing adventure. Possibly lend you some
gear and give you some advice. A few trips like this will quickly
let you know if fishing is the right sport for you.
Serious fishing requires lots of patience and the ability to end a fishing
trip empty handed. It is unusual to be successful each time you venture
out. It would not hurt to have the ability to tell a good story. Most wifes
will agree that there fishing husbands bring home more stories than
fish.
Other sports are enjoyed because there is constant action. Boating, baseball,
golf, swimming and others require almost constnt motion. Fishing on the
other hand usually is enjoyed by someone who enjoys hours of sitting
almost motionless while waiting for some passing fish to nibble at their
hook.
Before grabbing your credit card and heading for the sporting goods store
why not try a few fishing trips first to see if you really are cut out for the
sport?
