Whether you fish from the shore, off of a pier, on a charter boat or in your personal boat, canoe or kayak, there are some items that are necessary to keep you comfortable. Surely you will choose the right gear for the type of fishing you will be doing. But make sure you keep personal comfort in mind.
Food such as sandwiches and snacks and something to drink might be high on the list if you will be involved for several hours or more. Cold drinks as simple as water are always good. However if you will be in a cold climate you might want hot coffee or hot chocolate to warm you from time to time.
The proper clothing can make or break any fishing trip. Warm clothes for colder climates and light shirts and head covers to offer protection from the sun. Don't forget sunglasses. Glare off the water can quickly ruin a fishing trip if your eyes are not protected.
Don't forget those pesky bugs. Almost anytime you are around water if there is not wind those bugs will find you. You may start out on an afternoon trip and find you are suddenly fishing near or after dark when mosquitoes will be out in full force. Bug spray is a must and it does not take up much space in your tackle box.
Speaking of tackle boxes, you will want something that is large enough to hold your fishing gear and any other items you bring along. You will most likely be carrying a cooler for your drinks and food so you will not want to be lugging some huge, heavy tackle box.
